There are countless other realities. In some, you are superpowered, or dead, or the opposite gender. In others, great moments in history turned out quite differently than they did in our own world. And some realities don't appear to have any similarities to ours whatsoever. However, sometime things fall apart, and because of the connections between realities, this can set off a chain reaction that can devastate any number of worlds. In order to fix this, the Exiles were created. Originally made of members from the X-men of different realities and gathered by a holographic butler who called himself the Timebroker, their membership has varied widely. Now, the Exiles are based in the Crystal Palace, a seemingly limitless plane of arching pink crystal and high technology, including devices to monitor threats on different worlds and keep track of the Exiles. Teams of Exiles are formed, with at least one member of each team given a Tallus, a strange metallic armband with a large, smooth jewel, which serves as a radio link to whoever remains at the crystal palace. To play, you must pick/design a team of up to six Exiles of your own creation. You can send them on missions of your own choosing, or pick one of your team members to join with one of everyone else's members for mixed-group missions. Along the way, you can replace members if they die or retire/take a vacation.

Exiles: Fixing the Multiverse, One Reality at a Time Empty

Polaris - In many worlds, Polaris is the magnetic-powered, green-haired daughter of Magneto. However, Loran Lehnsherr is one of Magneto's sons in his reality, where the Master of Magnetism and his family fought to promote human/mutant equality against the manipulative powers of an evil Xavier and his X-men.

Spiral - Once a normal human stuntwoman who called herself "Ricochet" Rita Wayword, Spiral was brought to Mojoverse, a reality where television controls everything, ruled by a race of technologically advanced and completely amoral spineless humanoids. There, she was transformed and twisted in mind, body, and soul by Mojo, their leader (when his ratings are good) into a white-haired, six-armed (one of which is cybernetic) sorceress whose dances caused a number of magical effects (teleportation and transformation, especially, but also other forms of energy manipulation) and whose many swords made her a fearsome opponent. Recently, she managed to escape by joining forces with the Exiles, though Mojo, whose technology and magic include some multidimensional transportation himself, might decide to take her back at any time.

Sauron - Karl Lykos contacted a strange disease from one of the last surviving pterodactyls on Earth, draining him of energy, but allowing him to drain others as well, to fuel his physical transformations into a crested, winged, prehistoric reptile man. He grew up to become a professional shrink and hypnotist, only to find that in "Sauron" form his hypnotism was advanced to true mind control. Also possessing advanced strength and resilience, talons, and a sharp beak, his weaknesses are limited to his dependency on energy and his vulnerability to intense cold, both of which cause him to return to human form. While in many worlds the vast power he possessed fractured his mind into two separate personalities (Karl and Sauron), in his own world, (notable for the fact that the prehistoric wildlife of the antarctic Savage Land had spread across the other continents) Karl's mind remains united and whole.

Bloodstorm - Ororo Munroe was one of the greatest X-men of her world, until a battle with Dracula (whom she later staked through the heart) resulted in her becoming a vampire herself. With white hair in a mohawk, predatory red eyes, a dramatic leather outfit and sharp fangs, plus her own weather-controlling abilities mixed with vampiric powers such as the ability to become a cloud of mist and control and communicate with vermin. Thanks to her genius teammate, the Brute (Hank McCoy), she was cured of her bloodlust and regained the ability to survive in sunlight. The Exiles approached her for aid, and she considers herself "On Loan" with them, as she feels she has too many responsibilities back on her home reality to remain gone for long.

Caliban - A tragic, gargoyle-like white-skinned mutant who lived much of his life among the Morlocks in the sewers, Caliban possessed the psychic ability to locate and track anyone or anything, especially other mutants, and this made him a welcome tool for Apocalypse, who transformed him into a massively-powerful monster as his horseman of Death. In addition, his psychic powers were increased, allowing him to shut off the mutant gene's effects on a person, effectively turning them human. However, Apocalypse did not expect that this psychic enhancement would allow Caliban's psyche to reassert itself, and then turn his new powers against his former master. Caliban always speaks in third person.

Rogue - In her Reality, Rogue never joined the X-men. Instead, she became a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants under her adoptive mothers, Mystique and Destiny. Destiny used her future-seeing powers to figure out how best to help Rogue master her uncontrollable abilities, and set the girl up against an alien foe of the fantastic four known as the Super-Skrull. All Skrulls are green-skinned, pointy-eared, ridge-chinned aliens who have natural metamorphic abilities, but the Super-Skrull was genetically modified to also possess the powers of the Fantastic Four. Or at least, he did until Rogue touched him. The genetic modifications he underwent and his alien nature did stabilize her powers for a time, but after being struck by an alien energy blast, she found that the powers (and Skrull Appearance) were permanent and as dangerous as ever.

Exiles: Fixing the Multiverse, One Reality at a Time Empty

Blllleeeeeeeennnnnnnnkkk!
A strange, elfin girl with pointy ears, glowing green eyes, purple skin and pink hair appeared before them, a new team of Exiles gathered in a gleaming palace of pink crystal and high technology. "Ok, is everyone ready to go?" A green-haired young man in a similarly-colored green costume, complete with cape and strange facial mask that encircled but didn't cover his eyes, covered his nose, and branched up like a fleur de lys at his forehead. His eyes were also green and at times he seemed to float off the floor. "We're ready," he said, as he raised his arm to show the silvery armband with a huge, smooth-cut purple stone --- a tallus. His six-armed teammate began to dance and the tallus glowed, and suddenly, Blink was the only person left in the room. A huge, hairy blond man with claws and fangs joined her. "Ya think they can handle it? They're all new guys." Blink nodded, before replying "Yeah, but so were we, Mr. Creed."

- Earth 40876-
Space seemed to glow, collapse in on itself, and then expand as the new Exiles appeared on a new planet. Polaris, Spiral, Caliban, Bloodstorm, Sauron, and Rogue appeared in the middle of what had once been New York. It was devastated. Shattered glass lay all over the streets and skyscrapers had fallen. Smoke choked the air.

"What happened here," murmured Rogue in shock as she held her hands to her lips in fear and sorrow. Polaris' eyes looked distant as he listened to the Tallus, before he shook himself out of it. "Ok, apparently a few years back, Spiderman came across an alien symbiote that bonded to him as a costume. He thought that it was just capable of providing new powers, but instead it nearly drove him mad. He eventually got rid of it, but then it split into five separate symbiotes, and bonded with the Hulk, Wolverine, Mr. Fantastic, and Dr. Strange. They devastated the city, using maddened genius and uncontrollable fury, regeneration, strength and mobility. But there remains on final symbiote, and they've determined that it should bond with one of the female supers in order to fully take over the world... the only problem is that they can't decide which one. The Mr. Fantastic Symbiote wants Invisible Woman. The Wolverine Symbiote is torn between Storm and Jean Grey. The Dr. Strange Symbiote wants to choose the sorceress Clea. And the Hulk Symbiote wants to bond the remaining one with the fully-human Betty Ross. This has them at each other's throats. We somehow have to stop the symbiotes from bonding with any of those women, and try to find a way to remove them from the four enslaved heroes."

"Huh" said a voice from behind them. "Easier said than done."

Everyone whirled to find a bum in tattered clothes, with a scruffy beard and long, shaggy hair, standing behind them. "The remaining heroes have been squashed by the Symbiote's strength and smarts. I hear that the Human Torch is in intensive care, and the Thing might never walk again. Cyclops, Colossus, and Xavier are all dead, and Nightcrawler and Angel are leading the X-men. I don't know how many of the Avengers are left... I heard they ate Iron Man. And nobody has heard from Betty Ross since her father took her into some secret military base. Now, I can take you to where some of the heroes have gathered, but they won't be happy to see me."

"Why not," cawed Sauron in confusion.

"Because," said the man. "My name is Peter Parker..."
