The Small Folk: Life Underfoot
Humans take up so much space, but at the same time, they don't really USE it. Much of it is forgotten, overlooked, ignored, bricked up, hidden. This suits the Small Folk, miniature humans who live alongside humanity and who are found human myth around the world, very well. The climb behind the walls, build towns in crawlspaces, tame mice, birds, and some insects and lizards as pets and mounts, and steal everything from buttons to scraps of cloth to toys to that one sock you lost in the laundry, among odder items, to make tools, weapons, clothing, and homes. They also take from nature, using fur, hide, leaves, flowers, bark, plant fibers, feathers, and dust in their arts. Currently, the Small Folk are united in their decision to not be discovered by "The Big Folk," and they have been successful, in part, through their natural magic talents. Their society is divided into Cliques, with a different philosophy, style of clothing, and magical powers, and neighborhood in their home, the hidden city of Underfoot, located on, beneath, and above the grounds of the local high school. Now that summer is here, and the school is largely abandoned, the Small Folk are free to come out of hiding. But the world is a big place when you're 5-10cm tall. There are cats, hawks, and other dangerous animals. There are humans everywhere. Moving a mile away is a major undertaking. Are you up for it?

To play, you will need to post a bio including...
NAME:
CLIQUE: (Pixies (earthy environmentalists), Sprites (intellectual hippies), Goblins (vociferous punks), Gremlins (inventive techies), Knockers (determined laborers), Brownies (practical and political businessmen), Bogeys (Goths))
APPEARANCE: (Note: all Small Folk, despite their cliques' names, resemble humans, except that they are 5-10cm tall, might have brightly colored hair and eyes, or slightly pointed ears. These traits are about as common to Small Folk of all cliques as blue eyes, red hair, or birthmarks are among humans)
CAREER: (All Small folk have specific talents and interests that make them unique. These might be affected by their cliques... Gremlins make great hackers, for instance, while Knockers like being miners, but Sprites and Gremlins both make skilled artists, though Sprites prefer colorful and energetic creative pursuits like dance, music, and painting, and Gremlins prefer web design, metalworking, and junk sculpture. Example careers include hunter, warrior, thief, magician, healer, seer, farmer, animal tamer, scholar, artist, etc)
POSSESSIONS: (Do you have a bluejay mount? A needle sword? A matchbook and some sparklers? Healing herbs? Insect wing glider? A thread spool to use as rope? A spellbook? Armor built out of soda cans?)
MAGIC: (Your magic depends on your Clique and your Career. Magicians have powerful magic spells they study through spellbooks, Animal tamers can train animals through an empathic link, seers have visions, healers can heal using touch and medicines, etc. Only Pixies can turn invisible, only goblins are telekinetic, etc... clique-abilities can't be copied by other groups)

Subject: The Small Folk: Life Underfoot
%Pixies%
Pixies like to live close to the land and dress like tribal folk. They are fierce defenders of nature, and prefer to build things from natural materials. Pixie magic lets them become invisible and sense other magical powers being used, and prevent them from working if they choose. Finally, they can grow into humans for a short period of time.

*Sprites*
Sprites revere nature... usually in a more idealized sense. Sprites love blue skies, rainbows, and flowers. They love beauty, but they often lack taste. They rarely cut their hair, trying to look wild. Other Small folk consider them lazy hippies. However, their wild illusions and their wondrous ability to fly (many wear the wings of dead butterflies, dragonflies and moths as decoration for this power) make them the classic image of fairies. They can also create stunning glittering light blasts.

!Goblins!
The most forceful Clique, many wear garish clothing from fashion dolls, miniature baseball caps, and “bling”. They are touchy and always make sure the others aren't "putting them down." They can move objects far larger than themselves with their thoughts or to cause things to spontaneously break. They can also bite through and digest ANYTHING.

-Gremlins-
The newest clique, they are technophiles, with a knack for using complicated tools and improvised or "borrowed" gadgets. Many wear big pockets, goggles/glasses as status symbols. They can sense the internal workings of both electrical and mechanical devices, and control the flow of electricity (though not generate it). They can also animate mechanical/electric devices temporarily.

(Knockers)
Once mentioned by human miners as the makers of odd "knocking" noises (supposedly from their picks and hammers hitting precious metals), Knockers are the most proletariat Small Folk, measuring worth through work. Their clique is in high demand for their magical powers... they have a keen awareness of the nature and condition of inanimate matter in their vicinity (enabling them to find gold or avoid cave-ins) and the power to burrow through solid rock... and through space itself, making tunnels large enough for many small folk to travel through that lead great distances in short steps. They can also create a loud KNOCK sound, a sonic burst that can knock others away, simply by hitting something.

$Brownies$
Hard-working, methodical, fascinated by wealth and business and hence, the most determined to act like humans. They are among the most organized of the cliques. Brownie magic enables them to move and work at high speeds, getting more things done in a shorter amount of time. It can also let them create small objects from thin air (though they tend to fade away after a day or so). They can also repair an object with a touch.

^Bogeys^
Bogeys are very impressed by the attitudes of misery, making them proponents of goth fashion. They avoid appearing to care, favor dark colors, and prefer to appear pale and glamorous, so they dislike daylight. Their magic enables them to create clouds of impenetrable darkness and to become insubstantial, letting them walk through walls, though they usually do this accompanied by ghastly screams and mournful wailing, or a mysterious whisper. They can also transform themselves into monstrous versions of the beholder's worst fear.

Subject: Magic
In addition to the 21 powers of the cliques (darkness, insubstantial, terror form, breaking, telekinesis, devouring, electric flow, animate devices, machine sense, mining sense, warp tunnel, knockback, repair, create object, speed, flight, glitter blast, illusion, invisibility, human form, magic sense/control), there are magics that can be learned by careers instead of belonging to a clique. Not everyone learns magic, but it is considered a very useful skill, so most people learn at least one power of their cliques. Those that learn all their clique's powers AND a number of career abilities are impressive indeed.

Magicians: Magicians have the most kinds of magic, and even have special names for their powers, which are repeatedly studied (like mantras or formulae) in spellbooks. These powers (and the titles of those who use them) are control of/transformation into fire (salamander), water (undine), earth (gnome), air (sylph), dreams (oneiros), plants (leshiy), animals (imp), time (sidhe), and metal (kobold). A magician generally learns three kinds of magician magic, and spends the rest of her life trying to learn all of them... those that have succeeded have gone down in legend.

Seers: Seers have visions of the future, the present, the past, and the truth. They cannot lie (though they don't have to tell the whole truth), but they can immediately tell when someone is lying to them (though they don't know what the truth is, just that the person believes himself to be lying to them). Seers are highly respected, because many of them have a "danger sense" that lets them predict when and where trouble will occur, enabling them to keep their people safe.

Healers: Healers learn a combination of healing massage, first aid, herbalism, surgery, chemistry and biology, and combine it with natural magic for healing. Healers are also immune to disease and poison.

Animal Tamers: While Imp Magicians can control or turn themselves into animals, Animal Tamers don't need to force animals to do their will... their spirits are strong enough and similar enough to the various animals to halt them with a single glare and tame them, communicating empathically. Predatory animals are still a threat, but even they can be halted in their tracks by the gaze of an Animal Tamer. Animal Tamers are also the most skilled riders of various animals.

Other careers might have special, lesser magics. Warriors, for instance, might be able to boost their strength and agility, while hunters might be able to follow a long-passed track, and artists can dazzle others with their creations. Use common sense when coming up with career magic, if any, and try to stick to enhancing skills and qualities of that career.

Subject: Moondoggie
NAME: Moondoggie
CLIQUE: Sprite
APPEARANCE: Moondoggie has shoulder-length blue-silver curly hair, stands about 8.5cm tall, and has a turquoise-colored crescent moon tattoo around his right eye. He likes to wear clothes made from snippets of brightly-colored hawaiian print, and usually goes barefoot. He usually wears a makeshift rubber-band-and-blue-cloth headband to keep his long hair out of his face, and he sometimes attaches a pair of halteres or small gossamer insect wings over the ears to give himself a valkyrie-esque look. His eyes are sea green, and his body is lanky and defined.
CAREER: Scout / Professional Stunt Flier / flunked magician.
POSSESSIONS: Moondoggie's most prized possession is his Blue Morpho wing glider. He stole them from a science store display, and turned them into a gliding device, which he can wear as a cape or cause to unfurl by pulling a string in his sleeves. He frequently uses leaves for leafboarding, a sort of snowboarding sport using a falling leaf to glide through the air. He also has a battered old spellbook, with the two spells he learned in magician training.
MAGIC: Flight, Illusion, (Moondoggie flunked out of magician class, but not before he learned two spells... 1/4 of the Sylph power (he can sense things in the air, but not turn into an air form or fly on winds or manipulate air), and 1/4 of the Undine power (he can turn himself into water, but not control water, make ice or mist, sense water, etc). He has yet to get the hang of glitter blasts.
PERONALITY/BACKSTORY: Moondoggie is an easygoing sprite, but one who secretly worries about not being good enough, so he tries to overcompensate with dramatic, death-defying airborne feats to amuse the crowds of Small Folk when he's not scouting out new territory (such as the dessert refrigerator in the school cafeteria). When he was a child, he was amazed by a traveling magician, and wanted to follow that path himself. He learned the basics of Air and Water, but when he tried to learn the Salamander path, it literally exploded on him. Luckily, he was unharmed, but afterwards, he couldn't learn any more magic... it was burned out of him. He ran away from the jeers of the other kids, but this led him to his wanderlust and his desire to explore, as he hitched a ride on a school bus and took a trip to the local mall, where he spotted the beautiful blue morpho butterfly in a glass pinned-down case. He broke into it when nobody was looking and swiped the wings, escaping to begin his new goal... becoming the best flier imaginable. He might have only a little bit of magic, but he's vowed that his mastery of it will be unmatched. In the meantime, he'll have fun, act a little crazy, and flirt with the cute bogey girls. Life is good icon_smile.gif

OOC - I think I'll also give Moondoggie a bow with sedative arrows. Without the sprite glitter blasts, he's sorta offensively limited, and bows are traditional weapons for scouts.

NAME: Izabella

CLIQUE: Pixie

APPEARANCE: (Note: all Small Folk, despite their cliques' names, resemble humans, except that they are 5-10cm tall, might have brightly colored hair and eyes, or slightly pointed ears. These traits are about as common to Small Folk of all cliques as blue eyes, red hair, or birthmarks are among humans): Izabella stands at a little less than 6cm tall. She is different, not being like the other pixies. Besides from her slightly pointed ears (which are barely pointed), she looks like a tiny human. She has slighlty curly mahogany hair and brown eyes to match it. Her long eyelashes add a certaing beauty to her face and her eyes express almost every emotion she feels. She has a round face that makes her look slightly like a little kid. Her full, tooth smile can light up the whole community, but that's a rare occasion. She has little dimples in her cheeks that are barely noticable.

CAREER: Izabella is an animal tamer.

POSSESSIONS: Izabella loves her yellow canary named Sunshine and her tiny mouse name Cheddar. She has a wing-glider, a tiny sword, and a bag for everything she needs. In her bag, she also carries a painting of her parents.

MAGIC: Izabella can turn invisble, be a human for a bit, tell when someone is lying, and can communicate with animals.

PERSONALITY: Izabella is as loving and caring as anyone. She is very passionate and a vegetarian. In public, she keeps her head down and tries not to draw attention to herself. Izabella is extremely shy and blushes easily. However, when you get to know her, she talks and laughs more. But she still rarely smiles her whole smile. Sometimes, though, she half smiles.

BACKSTORY: She lived in a hole in one of the trees on the high-school grounds up high. There was a rope that led up to it and it has a beautiful view. One-day, while Izabella was on the ground with the rest of the community, the school knocked down her home. She used to smile and have tons of fun until her parents were killed in the crash. All she has left now is a painting of them. She is on her own, but she is okay with that.

Hey shadyboo1, thanks for joining. Izabella looks good, but I'm wondering... how do you justify the ability to sense lies? In career and the backstory, you didn't mention anything about Izabella being a seer, former seer, attempted seer, etc. Animals don't lie, so it doesn't seem like the sort of skill an Animal Tamer could use, and it isn't a pixie talent, either. You might also want to describe the wing glider. Her animal companions, however, are fun and playful and exactly what I was hoping would happen when I made this game, so thank you icon_smile.gif

Thanks! Okay, so I thought I deleted the lie thingy, so no more of that. Sorry.

Wing glider: Izabella made it herself with leafs and some twigs and toothpicks. It is shapes like two fans, one big on in the front, one tiny one in the back. The fans constantly change color because she has to continuely change the leaves so they don't break or dry out. There is a twig running up the center and it can fold up. She rarely has to use it because Sunshine flies her around.

CHARACTERS
bmmnns - Moondoggie is a Sprite Scout/aerial performer/flunked magician, who seeks to overcome his past failings with the most amazing aerial feats imaginable, using what little he knows of air magic to find exactly the right currents and updrafts and water magic to help him survive any sudden crashes by melting into water on impact.

shadyboo1 - Izabella is a shy, caring, orphaned Pixie animal tamer who continues to live her life as best she can, joined by her canary and mouse companions.

NAME: Aderyn (She doesn’t mind being called Addie or Ryn)
CLIQUE: Gremlin
APPEARANCE: Aderyn stands about 6.5 cm. She has a petite frame, with a ridiculously tiny bone structure, even for a Small Folk. Aderyn has earthy brown skin but with a strange coppery undertone. She has a heart-shaped face with high cheekbones, a long narrow nose and mostly full, naturally berry colored lips. She has chin length, feathery, dark brownish-black hair, which she’ll have pushed back by a headband. She usually wear a pair of slightly baggy gray shorts. It originally just had two front and two back pockets until she remembered how much stuff she tends to pick up. She then added a deep black pockets along each leg. She also wears a blue t-shirt underneath a light brown vest, with, surprise, more pockets. Around her neck is a pair of dark green and black goggles, originally from an action figure, that she fixed up. For all the items that are too large or unwieldy for her pockets, she also has a leather satchel slung over her shoulder.
CAREER: She’s a blacksmith (is that okay? I can see her making weapons and things) but, in her spare time, an inspiring inventor.
POSSESSIONS: Her bag is cluttered with various odds-and-ends that she has picked up. Bits of wire, a small spring, some tools, a couple snacks. Aderyn doesn’t like carrying weapons but she’s aware of the dangers in the world. She has a small sword, made from a small piece of a fence.
MAGIC: Electric flow, machine sense.
PERSONALITY/BACKSTORY: Aderyn’s a wildly emotional gremlin. She’s friendly and usually willing to help. Admittedly, it can be difficult to hold a steady conversation with her, past the initial few minutes, as she’ll see or hear something and become distracted. Unless, you bring up something mechanical. When it’s about a topic she loves, Aderyn will go on and on with zeal. She is just as zealous about her work. When she starts a project, she’ll feel that she has to finish it in one session. She’s stubborn and determined about the things she wants, almost to the point of obsession. Can be very irritable when interrupted during one of her projects, but she’ll immediately feel bad and apologize. She’s enough of a dreamer that she believes that she’ll “revolutionize the Small Folk, with SCIENCE!”, but realistic enough to ponder how she’d do it.
She had a fairly standard childhood, with two former warrior parents turned farmers. When she was younger, they’d often prodded her into perhaps taking up combat. Aderyn was always more interested in how things were made, rather than how to stab other things with them. Finally, after a series of very long-winded argument, she finally got them to realize she didn’t like fighting and that she likely die the second she tried. After that, she got more into her inventions, which were mostly her attempts to replicate simple human inventions. When she was older, she managed to get a job as a blacksmith’s apprentice, mostly making weapons for warriors or better axes and shovels for miners. She is content with her career but hopes to devote more time to her inventions.

Subject: Moondoggie
It began with piercing, thunderous ring, as the last bell announced the end of school for the year. That is when the hordes of teens escaping into the afternoon sun began, and if the bell had been thunder, this was an avalanche. Then the avalanche was replaced by the rushing flow of a flood, and then merely a river, a stream, a trickle, and finally the hushed, breathless whispers of the very last students and teachers left the building, and the janitors finished their cleaning and put the last locks on the doors with a "click". Meanwhile, tucked away in the rafters of the school lobby, there was a sound not unlike the tinkling of bells and glittering rainbow sparks lit up a space previously shrouded by shadows, as the lone, tiny inhabitant called on the magic of sprite flight. It was a complicated process of thoughts required to activate the magic, but Moondoggie was an expert, so he carefully made his mind relax until it was the very opposite of concentration, a sort of natural high. Gravity is only a suggestion, he thought, and began to float into the air, the sparkling lights around him shining even brighter. He then pulled the strings in his hawaiian print doll shirt that caused his costume blue morpho wings to spread, and with a thought, caused himself to zoom through the air, down the halls of the school, looking for any rooms with lights still on, for any stragglers, or for any open windows. Sparkles trailed behind him as he flew, but he wasn't worried, for if there had been any stragglers, most of them had left, and if any of them HAD seen him, only the sudden flash of light would register, as he was moving too quickly to be seen clearly. Confident that the school was indeed closed after his last sweep, he flew back to the lobby, pulled out a set of panpipes, and played a cheerful tune that echoed through the school, announcing that it was safe to come out and set up shop for the Last Day of School Celebration among the Small Folk. There would be tiny festival rides, sweets cooked by bakers or swiped from the cafeteria or lockers, songs, bardic storytelling, and contests of strength, speed, agility, art, beauty, and magic. It was shaping up to be a beautiful day for it, and just think: three whole months with little need to hide from the Big Folk. The scout was looking forward to it, and, with his duties complete for the day, began planning the loops and spins and wing-over maneuvers he'd pull off for the flying competition that evening.

Subject: Effina
Not too late to post a bio I hope?

NAME: Effiena (But most people call her Fee)

CLIQUE: Brownie

APPEARANCE: Upon Fee's first impression, one can tell that she's an absolute mess. Her most obvious feature is the mess of wavy ginger hair that overflows off her head and down to her upper back. One of her most valuable possessions is a small piece of green string that she uses to tie her hair back in a mess bun of sorts. Once her hair is pulled form here eyes, one may see that Fee has an oval shaped face with two very green eyes, which sparkle with the hope of her latest scheme. Beneath her eyes lie her unusually pointed nose, and raspberry lips, which are often pulled into a mischievous grin, revealing her dimples. Fee stands at 7cm, with an athletic build that might be slightly malnourished. In addition to the two tribal tattoos on her shoulders, Fee's body is also covered in scars from her many misadventures. She covered them with a sort of emerald togaeque dress made of a long forgotten scarf. On her feet are a pair of brown moccasins that look to be goblin made.

POSSESSIONS: Fee always carries a small paper clip knife, and a bag of pixie dust, which allows her to make a fast escape. She also is seen carrying around a tissue gunny sac, which often breaks and spills her finds.

CAREER: Thief, banker, investor, con artist.

MAGIC: Speed, creating object out of air (they only last a day), persuasion, and she's a scrappy fighter.

PERSONALITY/BACKSTORY:
Fee grew up in a typical brownie home as the youngest of 4 brothers. As a child she excelled in academia and was in the top of her class. She quickly grew bored of school and spent her childhood sneaking around, and conning her bothers out of their most precious items. Needless to say, they were not very happy with this, and Fee learned the arts of fighting and a quick get away at an early age. Bored by the methodical and practical ways of the brownies, Fee spent her days dreaming up grand schemes and elaborate plots. However, upon exiting academia Fee ran into a problem, she wasn't good at anything. She was book smart, but when it came to things like making clothes, finding food, exploring, or inventing, she kind of sucked. So Fee decided to be an investor, gathering gold and supplies to invest in the good ideas of other small folk. Recently she's been trying to convince people to go along with her schemes, but they haven't been working out so well. So she packs up her bags and makes a quick get away, but not with out pilfering a prized possession or two. This process has left Fee with quite a lot of enemies, but also a treasure trove of stolen loot, not that she knows what to do with any of it. Fee's not a bad girl, she just tends to dream BIG, and forgets about the minor details in life, like you know, making money. She loves her adventurous life, but it has left her a bit lonely. Life on the road doesn't have much room for friends.

Subject: Effina enters
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!

"Razzle frazzle!" Effina swore loudly to herself as her tissue gunny sac split in two and her belongings spilled onto the ground. Gems, tools, and an large assortment of knick-knacks, fell haphazardly into a small heap. "Stupid sac, always falling apart when I need it. Can't make anything right. Frumblebleb . . ." muttered Fee as she took to rearranging her sac, so that the new tear would not affect it. It was a simple enough process, she had mended her sac many times, as it was built by her and was prone to falling apart and the most inopportune moment. After the bag had been mended, or rather jerry-rigged to last a few more days, Fee continued on her journey across the front lobby of "William Mckinley High School." The school was a new place for Fee, one where she could make a fresh start. Not that anything was wrong with her own home, in fact, she liked living in the garden shed of the Frazier tribe. But alas, when your promise a Gremlin that you'll double his money, you better keep your promises. So after what some would call an argument (Fee liked to use the word negotiation) with a very large and very angry gremlin named Gort, she decided it was time to go. The journey from the garden shed to the front yard was not an easy one, but then again, when is anything easy when you're being chased by a hoard of angry gremlins? Fortunately she was able to scramble into the trunk of the "mini van" where the large one, Jane, spoke of a place that would "be totally empty since like summer school was moved to Jefferson." And so, here Fee was, in the front lobby of "William Mckinley High School." Exhausted and frustrated from her journey, Fee tried to remain hopeful. This would be her new home. The resources seemed unlimited, the Big Folk were not around, and she saw no signs of warring Pixie tribes, jealous Bogeys, or curious Sprites. In fact, there didn't seem to be a soul in sight. Sighing with relief, she wiped the sweat from her brow and pushed a few strands of ginger hair from her face. With two hand placed firmly on her sac, she picked it up and began the task of looking for a place to camp for the night, but before she could take ever two steps and oddly familiar sound floated through the lobby. At first the sound was so soft, she thought that perhaps she was imagining it, but soon the bright melodies of a sprite celebration song rang through the halls. It was at that point Fee realized a terrifying truth: she was not alone.

But, it was hard to keep from telling of her world. The one she belonged, or didn't belong, to. She looked through the window to the empty classroom. A pencil was still on a desk, one pen left behind, the globe had tipped. This was the classroom that she loved the most. The teacher always pulled down a huge map of the world on it. Izzy wished that she could be the one exploring that world. It was just too big now. She slipped in through a chink in the window. She took the crank at the base of the window and, with great effort, opened it by turning. She whistled and Sunshine flew in. Cheddar came in from under the bookcase. She hopped on Sunshine and motioned for Cheddar to follow. Izzy flew through the halls, looking into every classroom. She smiled, knowing that this could one day be the place she could live. Unlikely, but she still smiled. She flew into the gym so Sunshine could fly freely. She hopped off first, though, to look at the bleachers. She pulled out a few PixiStix. Of course, she had never seen one before. Iz opened a purple package and stuck her hand in. She tried the purple powder, the sweet purple powder. "Oh, I have to bring this back to the Celebration!" She lugged a few out, handed them to Sunshine, and carried the rest. Sunshine dropped them off in the cafeteria, but Izzy decided to walk.

OOC: Sorry, it's been difficult for me to get on a computer.
Aderyn pointed a sheaved sword at Tristegrove, the blacksmith. He took it and examined the weapon closely. Outside, she could hear the occasional student walk by. During his examination, he mumbled just loud enough for her to hear. “There’s a nice weight to it, balanced. You managed to keep it from being too brittle but it could have been a bit harder. The hilt seems to be rather… ornate, however.” He gave her a look.
“Well, yes, it is. But you said to make the latest set a bit fancier in honor of summer. You thought they would make for a better display in the coming days.”
“Ah, right,” He waved a hand dismissively. “In any case, it is a nice sword. You still have quite a way to go until it’s perfect,” He handed the sword back so she could place it on the stand. As she walked over, they both heard a cheery melody. The school was officially empty. Tristengrove smiled. “Looks like it’s closing time. You’ll be at the Celebration, I assume.”
Aderyn grinned. “Yeah, of course. I wanted to display a few of my inventions but, I had trouble finding this particular part. You know those things with the two wheels that some of the Big Folk come to school on? I wanted to make something like that. It’s a work in process right now, but I think if I take a look around, I’ll be able to find what I need. Or I could try to make the piece myself, it shouldn’t be too hard. Maybe I could-” She noticed the bored look on his face. “I’m doing it again, aren’t I?”
“Yes. Yes, you are.” Aderyn apologized and he put an arm around her shoulder and led to the door. “It’s alright. Go on and enjoy yourself for a bit. I’ll probably run into at the festival.” She nodded and trotted out the shop.
She sighed as she walked down a wooden beam, connecting the outer and inner walls. She didn’t feel like going home, just yet. Might as well take a walk, she thought. Maybe I can find some stuff I can use. She perked up considerably at that thought. Quickly, she slipped though a crack in the wall. She was in the lobby of the school.
“Should I stay in here, or go outside?” She said aloud. As she did so, she noticed movement out of the corner of her eye. Aderyn turned and noticed a small person, like her further down the lobby. It was too far to tell what clique the girl was in or if she was someone she knew, so Aderyn cried out, “Hello! Do I know you?”

Subject: Effina
OOC - Isn't it usually called a "sack" when it is a manmade (or in this case, Browniemade) bag? I always thought a "sac" was a biological feature (like a mother kangaroo's pouch, or the gland in a snake's mouth that holds the venom).
Also, I think it is "jury-rigged", not "jerry-rigged".

Moondoggie swooped down, trailing sparkles, preparing to head back to the rest of the town, when he noticed motion and a clatter. He flew around the lobby and watched the small outsider arriving, making her way across the tiled floor. Oh well... it was one of his duties as a scout to announce himself to likely travelers, so he flew down, landing neatly in front of her, and carefully folding the cerulean wings back like a cape. "Greetings, wanderer. I am Moondoggie, a Sprite, and representative of the great city of Underfoot, which stretches along, above, around, and underneath the property of this school. You are welcome, and have arrived at a great time! With school out, the Big Folk have left, and all the Cliques are gathering for a great festival in celebration." He openly examined the somewhat dissheveled, fiery-haired Small Girl and frowned at the sack. "Um... excuse me for asking, but that's made of tissue, right? Have you considered having someone with Leshiy magic look at it? They might be able to control the plant fibers to make it stronger, while keeping it just as light and flexible. Oh! And, um, what's your name?" Embarrassed by his lapse of protocol, he blushed a little.

Subject:
NAME: Dirk

CLIQUE: Goblin

APPEARANCE: Dirk stands at 9 ½cm tall, which is pretty impressive for his clique, but growing up all he ever heard was how his older brother was 12cm tall and Dirk has never really been able to escape that freakishly large shadow. He keeps his bright green hair short, last thing he wants is for it to get in his way though it’s usually hidden under a trucker hat that looks like it was stolen from a Ken the Wannabe White Rapper doll, which is probably where he got his mini bling, the chain he wears and the fake watch. His eyes are the same shade of neon green as his hair though he usually sports a pair of shades he stole from a various toy from the elementary school not too far from the high school. He’s well muscled, as a warrior should be, and that’s been the career for most males of his family for a while now. His pointed ears are just a bit longer than most, and don’t think he didn’t hear about that when he was younger. He has them both pierced a few times with rings made of a paperclip. His teeth are sharper than most of the Small folk, sharp and able to bite through a wide verity of things, which he uses to gnaw on shiny things to make it so he can wear them in some way. He has a large collection of clothes stolen from various toys; his pants are usually a bit too baggy and held up with a shiny metal belt he made himself. He wears brightly colored t-shirts and polo’s or button downs with a popped collar. He has a faux leather vest which he wears more often than not and a pair of bulk sneakers.

CAREER: Warrior and Hunter depending on which needs done, though he steals form big folk for fun.

POSSESSIONS: Dirk carries with him a knife (thumb tack) and usually a couple spears (toothpicks) if he’s on a hunt or there’s danger to be fought. He keeps anything shiny he should find, a lost earring, change, jewelry, foil, if it’s shiny Dirk wants it. He has one of those finger bikes as well, that’s his favorite possession, it’s both shiny and neon green, his favorite color, and it’s very useful for when he has to chase his prey or for some fun. He’s got a mild case of hording when it comes to things he’s stolen from big folk, and he hates it if others touch his stuff.

MAGIC: Dirk most neglects his magic for more physical abilities but he is amused by the power to break things with his mind. Every now and then he causes a light bulb to randomly shatter in class to cause a diversion or just for fun.

PERSONALITY/BACKSTORY: For several generations the males of Dirk’s family have been brave warriors, with more than slightly abrasive personalities. They’re known for being strong willed, quick tempered, but brave and very loyal. Dirk is no exception, though he’s always trying to prove himself, as he’s been in his older brother’s giant shadow for his whole life. Dirk’s brother is a fairly famous Goblin, known as the great lizard tamer, the slayer of the ferocious feline; a cat that wandered into the territory a while back and gave the folks there quite a scare. Then his brother died about a year ago, attacked by a snake that got loose from the science lab, and Dirk still feels like he’s competing with him. He’s one of the top warriors and a skilled hunter but he’s yet to hear a word of praise from his parents, who he rarely visits as they live about two blocks away in another colony. After his brothers he moved to a new colony inside a high school with hopes of making a name for himself where no one knew his. He’s got a temper to him and is pretty hyper. Dirk’s not the brightest fellow around, usually acts on impulse and could care less about learning anything he doesn’t find useful. He’s got little patience, plenty of arrogance and a very short attention span.

Awesome! I was hoping someone would be up to the fun (and challenge) of playing a goblin! I noticed, though, that you mention his teeth are sharp and he uses them to bite things, but you didn't mention him possessing the goblin eating everything magic. However, I love his backstory and appearance! Way to go!

Ah well I was sold at vociferous punks lol. I wasn't sure if the teeth thing was a magical ability or a physical one, but I guess I'll give him the tendency towards the ability but not its full power, so he can bite through many things naturally but not everything as he neglects his magic. If that works for you of course. Also I'll have a post up soon, just taking a paper writing break right now. lol Summer classes are driving me crazy.

I hear that about the summer classes. Good luck.

The inherent magic of each clique is sort of bound into their philosophy and actions. Sprites, for instance, are sort of hippies/surfers, including their tradition of "relaxing" substances and mushrooms, which accounts for their illusions (essentially shared hallucinations) and flight (free spirits, floating sensations, and again, ignoring the law of gravity) and sparkling energy (pretty colors and lights). Bogeys are masters of gothic horror, including fears, darkness, and ghostly insubstantial forms. Brownie abilities are a result of their drive for success and business... every businessman wishes he could move as fast as he wanted, conjure up the right item for the job at will, and keep things from breaking on them. Knocker magic is a result of their connection with the earth, stone, mines and tunnels where they feel most comfortable, allowing them to burrow through space as well as earth, sense subterranean dangers, and cause shocks. Gremlin magic comes from their fanatical love of technology, letting them direct electricity, animate mechanical devices, and comprehend the inner workings of new technology. Pixies are protectors of nature and the natural world, and their magic lets them become clear as air, grow like trees, and sense/control magical changes to natural reality. And Goblins let their anger and passion and hunger affect the physical world. Actual magic (as an occupation, like the sylph powers) are more esoteric, but each clique's powers are a natural result of their identity.

“Oh, I thought you looked familiar. I guess not,” She jogged a bit towards the girl across the tiled floor, her light footsteps echoed ever so slightly. “My name’s Aderyn, by the way.” She’d by now reached Izzy and, promptly, shook the girl’s outstretched hand. “Pixistix? I’ve never tried them. They aren’t made of real pixies, are they?” She joked but then got a good look at the girl. “Er, you aren’t a pixie, are you? If you are, sorry about that.” She clasped her hands behind her back and rocked back on her heels, trying to think of something to say. “Um, well, I’m a gremlin, in case you couldn’t tell,” she gestured to the goggles around her neck, “I live down there,” she pointed down the hall, “by the science labs. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in the school, so do you live outdoors or something? Although, I suppose I might’ve just missed you. It’s a pretty big school…” Aderyn paused. Stop rambling, Addie, she thought. You sound so ridiculous. She broke her reverie and smiled. “Sorry about that. But, yeah, I would like to try some Pixistix if, you don’t mind. And if you want, I have some bread, I think. Less exotic, I admit, but it’s really good.”

"Oh, I am a pixie. Don't worry about it either. I've heard worse." Izzy smiled warmly at Aderyn. "And go ahead, take some. I found them under a bleacher. And I don't like in the school. I live outside wherever I want to. I don't have a home exactly...." She trailed. Then she remembered Aderyn saying that she had bread. "You have bread?" she whispered. "I haven't had bread in months! Maybe we can talk over a small feast!" Her smiled widened.

Subject: Questions??
This RPG seems very interesting.

I am thinking about joining it. If I can I will post a bio for a bogey, but I have a few questions? So are the seers, magicians, animal trainers, and etc. like careers or can my person be like a watchmen of the village? But have the power of a seer and a oneiros magician?

I was just wondering these things before I go and post a bio..lol
Thanks for listening and once again your RPG sounds amazing...

The ability of seers is an inborn talent that must be focused and practiced to be of reliable use, but your character might possess that talent and simply not have practiced it in the seer career. Like Moondoggie, you might have learned oneiros magic, and then decided that you preferred another career. Animal taming, however, requires training and practice, and is a full career. Glad you like the game, though icon_smile.gif

Subject: Blake the Bogey...=}
NAME: Blake
CLIQUE:Bogey

APPEARANCE: Blake is approximately 6.8 cm tall. Blake has shiny silver hair and it goes to just above her neck. She wears it spiked in the back and has bangs that end right above big up-slanted red eyes. Blake has long pointed ears and a killer blinding white smile. Blake has a round face and slightly chubby cheeks. She is very fit and athletic.
She is always found in slightly baggy black pants that are tucked into a pair of black boots. During the day time, she wears a mask over her face, a black tank top, and a leather black jacket (that doesn't go down to her waist, it ends right below her chest). Blake had a hood sewed on to it so it's easier for her to go outside. At night she has leather gloves and depending on the weather she wears a black trench or a long sleeve shirt.

CAREER: Underfoot City Watch guard/Soldier (when needed)
POSSESSIONS: Twin sai's made from twigs and a spear-like toothpick

MAGIC: Blake has the power of a seer, but has never practiced it to perfect it. So she sometimes gets visions when she's asleep. She can tell when someone is lying and she has that danger sense. However, she cannot lie. Blake has perfected the power of a dream magician. She can enter people's dreams and alter them. (This the way I perceive what a dream magician can do, please correct me if I am wrong) Blake can only transform into the beholders worst fear when she's in danger, unless they are sleeping.

PERSONALITY/BACKSTORY: Blake is very straight-forward. She has little discretion over what comes out of her mouth because she doesn't really care what anyone thinks. Blake would never over think things, in fact she sometimes barely gives things a second glance. She believes if a stranger is not lying to her or seem dangerous than why should she bother with them. Blake is very intelligent and will only get into "hard worker mode" if she senses danger. She has the intellect to become an amazing tactician. Blake has a lighter side. She has a dry witted sense of humor. She tries to be funny, but it's useless.
Growing up Blake's parents were magicians. Both of their strongest magics were oneiros. Together they taught their daughter that one. They forced it into her brain from day one. Blake took it in even though her inborn talent was to be a seer. An attack to the village she used to live in killed her parents, leaving her to be an orphan. At that time, she had already learned most of what she could do as a dream magician. She tried to learn what it takes to be a seer, but she could not find anyone to help. Blake gave up for a while and started to hone her hand to hand combat skills (especially since she likes taking walks alone in the dark at night). Blake wandered to Underfoot a year ago and found that she liked it here. They were looking for a watch-guard and that was just the type of thing for her. Blake still plans to find someone to help her learn about her capabilities as a seer, because seeing random things in dreams are not helping her.
